This year we will once again be taking part in Dementia Awareness week by creating forget me not themed art glass and jewellery.
Currently only two styles of wall art are available from our Etsy page, however we will be adding more over the coming weeks. 20% of the sales price for all of our Forget Me Not themed art is donated to charities including Alzheimer's Scotland and Alzheimer's Society UK. A Christmas gift made especially for a special couple.
It features a stag in front of the Eildon Hills (from the Galashiels Langlee perspective from Moe Hill). The stag journeys down the hill to drink from the river, before he ascends once more. Created by handpainting enamels on glass before firing in the kiln. It's a fairly black and white piece, but it has very subtle ribbons of greens and blue on each panel. Although we will be closed in January, our online Etsy will be open, and we will reopen our studio/gallery to the public again when we are permitted to.
Wishing you all much love, peace and joy this new year.
Thank you for all of the support we have received this year from all of our lovely customers, followers and the comments and reviews we have received online. It is very much appreciated.
We hope to reopen our studio/gallery to the public at some point in the New Year, but until then Merry Christmas. Best wishes, Rachel & Georgia ~ of Harestanes Glass Studio In the original photograph the cat is sitting in the kitchen on top of some chilli peppers surrounded by basil plants.
The image had special meaning to our client, so we added in a red/orange streaky to symbolise the chillies as well as some foliage around the cat. Contact us if you are interested in having a custom pet portrait created.
Something new for us - handcrafted kiln-formed art glass set into wood.
This gorgeous piece of wood came from The Real Wood Studio based just up the road from us near Nisbet. We think it really compliments the blue waves of our abstract blue half moon. Available now exclusively from our studio/gallery at Harestanes. 'Meet the Maker' at the Borders Textile Towerhouse in Hawick, 10am-4.30pm on Friday 19th - Saturday 20th November
Rachel of Harestanes Glass Studio is taking part in the exhibition, showcasing some of our unique range of handcrafted art glass; including Christmas decorations, silver and dichroic glass jewellery, and gifts for the home and garden in traditional stained glass and contemporary fused glass. Why not pop in and meet some of the makers and artists taking part and get some unique handcrafted gifts this Christmas - entry is FREE but you need to book a slot in advance.
