Independent family-run art glass studio
|
|
A small but well-equipped production studio with gift gallery based in The Craft Courtyard at Harestanes.
We produce a range of unique and individually handcrafted dichroic glass and sterling silver jewellery, kiln-formed fused and stained glass for the home and garden. We can make to order and also offer gift vouchers. Workshops are available in both glass fusing and stained glass. |
As a Mother and Daughter team we create a unique range of handcrafted art glass for the home and garden; from traditional stained glass decorations and panels, to contemporary kiln formed glass jewellery, decorations and
homeware.
Our work is inspired by nature: from the beautiful landscapes of the rural Scottish Borders, to the stunning coastlines of Eyemouth, and Northumberland.
Contemporary abstract curving lines with complimentary colours, to illustrative realism of wildlife – our work is a fusion of our combined styles and modern art.

RACHEL - glass fusing
After almost 30 years in the Civil Service, I attended a night class in Stained Glass at a local college, in Stirling in 2005.
Within weeks I was addicted and ordered all the glass, tools and equipment.
I went on various training courses in glass fusing and trained with Zurich based Erna Piechna, a well renowned and respected glass artist with expertise in kiln formed work.
I then successfully started and ran my own glass supply business and training studio RETROglass for almost 10 years with my Husband, before moving down to the Scottish Borders for a lifestyle change, where I re-discovered my passion for art glass.
I set up our glass studio on 2nd April 2016, with my daughter, Georgia, joining me in March 2020. I work in kiln-formed glass, otherwise know as glass fusing. This allows me to create unique glass homeware, as well as jewellery in our studio.

GEORGIA - stained glass
As my parents ran their own glass supply business, I grew-up surrounded by glass, artists and training workshops.
From a young age I learned the art of stained glass from both of my parents, as well as having the opportunity to work with a variety of incredible glass artists over the years.
I studied Fashion Technology BSc Hons, a course that combined design and business. I then continued onto graduate with an MA in design from Heriot-Watt University. After working in the Fashion industry, I returned home to the Borders and rekindled my love of glass. I feel that my education in design coupled with my glass experience gives my work a different style.
In recent years I have attended glass painting workshops by Brian Waugh, a renowned glass painter, as well as online classes by Ellen van Dijk an incredible portrait glass painter.
Stained Glass is my passion, I love creating new pieces of art using such as traditional method. I work in both traditional lead came as well as Tiffany style copper-foiling, and create my own designs.
