A very unusual commission from a lovely couple who wanted a mobile made for their son who has a 'Tomato Room' greenhouse attached to his home.
I spent a some time looking at tomato's and came up with a design showcases the different stages of the plant as well different types of tomato's. The mobile is created using thick wire and has so much movement, and the tomato's themselves have copperfoil overlay to create the leaves, hammered copper wire for the stems and hand painted details. I'm so happy with how it turned out, and I think I see more mobile hangings being made in the near future.
My Mum (Rachel) established our wee glass studio almost 5 years ago after relocating to the Scottish Borders and spending a few years away from the glass world. She has been creating fused glass art and dichroic jewellery for over 12 years.
I joined my Mum last year in the business and I create the stained glass, silver jewellery and polymer clay jewellery. I have a fashion and design background, but I grew up learning stained glass at a young age from both parents, and I love the craft. Unfortunately our studio/gallery at Harestanes is closed to the public due to Covid restrictions, and we would normally have various workshops and classes available throughout the year. We really want to thank all of our friends, customers and followers for their continued support and kindness. It truly means a lot to small businesses during this difficult time. |
