We are delighted to be taking part in a fundraiser for Seven Women for international women's day on Friday 6th March at Bowden Village Hall, starting at 7pm.

It's such an inspirational story, there is a 60 minute film about the project as well as a craft fair where we will be showcasing some of our work, as well as amazing artists such as Anne White, Mary Goulden and Olive Rowell.

Entry is by donation, with tea/coffee and cupcakes available as well as a raffle.

UPDATE:
We had a great time at Bowden Village Hall on Friday night, such a beautiful village with lovely people giving their support to the Seven Women Project.

It was a great opportunity to fundraise and learn about the women of Nepal and their fight for an education, independence and to marry for love. Thank you to Andrea Beavon for organising and presenting.

We felt privileged to have been invited to attend as female artists and showcase our art glass and jewellery.

As it is International Women's Day today and as female artists, Harestanes Glass Studio has sponsored a woman of Nepal to give her the chance to have an education; an opportunity to live a fuller life ♀

She is also currently training as a silversmith, in order to incorporate her Mum's dichroic glass jewellery with handcrafted sterling silver settings and findings. She also creates Polymer clay jewellery, and will be training to learn more techniques in glass fusing.

2019 at Harestanes Glass Studio was a whirlwind of workshops and classes, as well as redesigning our website, leaflets and social media.
We took on space at Why Not in Galashiels, as well as taking part in Christmas craft fairs Heart of Hawick and Queens House in Kelso.

We had more commissions this year as well as having the honour of making the VAW award for SBRCC for the 2nd year in a row.

Thank you to all of our lovely customers, and all the new friends we have made this year.

2020 will be an interesting year, with our studio having a little bit of TLC and remodelling in January so we will be reopening in February (date to be confirmed).🎉

We are also looking to take part in more craft fairs as well as external workshops in the coming year. Exciting things to come and all the best for the New Year.

Violence against women award 2019

11/12/2019

It was an honour to produce the award for Violence Against Women (VAW) partnership Award 2019, for Scottish Borders Rape Crisis Centre.

It was important for the award to have meaning in accordance with VAW and SBRC ethos. The colours were chosen not only for their historical reference to the Suffragettes, but also for the symbolic meanings related to them.

PURPLE was chosen for compassion, understanding, support and empathy.
GREEN selected for creativity, growth, rebirth, harmony and life.

The number of dots used in the design also had symbolic meaning to us.

The number 3 used to represent unity, kindness, joy, growth and inspiration.
The number 5 to represent strength, adaptability, independence and understanding.

Congratulations to the winner Corrinne Johnston, to find out more check out Scottish Borders Council website.
