There is a variety of items you and your child can produce, be creative and have lots of fun in the process plus have a nice memento to keep and remember the
​experience for years to come.


Children under 12 years old require adult supervision,
​and all glass is pre-cut. Please advise kids age at time of booking.

Family project

Make a memory and create a stand-up Christmas family scene together.
​

The project is initially fired in the kiln to a partial fuse to keep the texture, before it is fired again to slump into a double-wave shape allowing your finished masterpiece to be free-standing.

Workshop details
WORKSHOP LENGTH
Half day workshop is approximately 1 hour to 2 hours depending amount of projects or group size.
Please note workshop times are approximate and class may run longer or shorter.

WHAT'S INVOLVED

Design and make your own fused glass Christmas decoration - choice from stars, snowmen, Christmas trees etc. with other projects such as little hanging suncatchers, coasters or dishes are also available.

Adult projects (suitable for kids over 12 years) that involve glass cutting are also available. Such as making a snowflake, Christmas tree, Snowmen etc.

If you have a budget per person, please let us know at time of booking so that we only offer options within your budget. For example: if you budget is £20 per person, we will only offer the options for projects that are £20 or less to choose from.

Large family or group project involves working with different glass compatible products to create your own wintery scene together.


Please note: glass cannot be taken away on the day, it will require firing in the kiln (sometimes multiple firings) until complete and ready to collect. Postage can be arranged if necessary.
What's included
We cannot allow open cups on the bench during glass cutting. Please ensure to bring a bottle if you would like to leave water on the bench during class.

All glass, tools, equipment are provided to allow you to create your fused glass art work.

Selection of transparent glass and opaque glass in various colours and effects, and clear glass. Selection of compatible glass products such as stringers (thin pulled lines of glass), frit (crushed glass), and confetti (wafer thin pieces of glass).
​There is no glass cutting for children under 12 years old, glass is either pre-cut or safe alternative glass products are used.

Please note: Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by a supervising adult. 
Seasonal workshops are suitable for 
Children aged 5 upwards. They are not suitable for kids under 5.

WORKSHOP SAFETY EQUIPMENT

Children over 12 years old and adults have the option to cut their own glass - guidance and safety equipment is given in this instance. We provide all protective clothing for our workshops. Every effort is made to ensure your safety and comfort during our workshops.
• Safety glasses are provided and must be worn when cutting glass. The safety glasses are oversized so as to fit over the top of regular eye glasses, and have side protection to protect the wearer further in a class situation.
• Aprons are provided to protect clothing on all of our workshops.
• Anti-fatigue mats are provided on the floor around the work benches to make standing more comfortable.
• 
Heavy gloves can be provided to protect your hands when removing and handling glass from the scrap boxes.
Rules & Safety
GENERAL HEALTH & SAFETY
• Harestanes Glass Studio accepts no liability for physical injury of any kind, upon booking onto a workshop you accept the potential risks and dangers involved with glass cutting and that you are choosing to participate at your own risk.
• Protective safety equipment and clothing as well as safe workshop practice should be followed to prevent and mitigate any potential dangers.

• Unfortunately we cannot allow any dogs to accompany you on workshop, cutting glass can create sharp splinters that often fall to the floor making it dangerous.
• A coat rack has been provided for you to safely store any coats or bags to prevent tripping hazards. Harestanes Glass Studio accepts no liability for loss or damage to personal belongings. They are stored at your own risk.
• Suitable clothing must be worn, preferably long sleeves and no cropped tops.
• Sensible footwear must be worn, no open-toed shoes, sandals or flip-flops will be allowed in the workshop.

We reserve the right to ask the student to leave the workshop if unsuitable clothing or footwear is worn. No refund will be given in this instance.
Health & Safety - children
• Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by a supervising adult. Creative kids workshops are suitable for Children aged 5 upwards. They are not suitable for kids under 5.
• There is no glass cutting for children under 12 years old, glass is either pre-cut or safe alternative glass products are used.
• We are unable to book parties or groups of kids larger than 8 people due to health and safety. Groups of 8 kids will require at least 1 parent or supervising adult.
• Only sealable bottles of water or juice can be kept on table. Open glasses or cups are too dangerous. Breaks can be taken at any time during the workshop to safely eat or drink.
• Children must be
 sensible in the glass studio, we cannot allow running or rowdy behaviour in the workshop or gallery area due to the risk of injury and broken glass. Any inappropriate or irresponsible behaviour will be addressed and continued behaviour will result in the person being asked to leave or for the workshop to be cancelled due to health & safety concerns. No refund will be given in this instance.
• Please note we have a log burning stove. We have a fire guard and signage, and we ask students to please keep a safe distance and to remember that the stove is hot to the touch. We are not liable for any injuries or burns.
